Dear Business Owner:

The Bayou La Batre Area Chamber of Commerce has been asked to help collect information from businesses in South Mobile County regarding the economic impact of the recent BP Oil Spill.

This request is from Dr. Keivan Deravi who will compile all the information into a formal report. Dr. Deravi is an economist at Auburn University Montgomery and the de facto State Economist.

He has been commissioned and instructed by Governor Riley to estimate the economic impact of the oil spill on the state’s economy. He is also assisting the Attorney General’s office and the State Superintendent of Education with understanding the scope of the impact.

The data will be used by Governor Riley to establish appropriate future funding requests to BP. You will also be able to use the same date on any claim forms. It is very important the information is accurate as the outcome can and will be beneficial to you.
